Jonathan C. Pyles Wichita Daily Times, July 12, 1954, page 6
Jonathan C. Pyles, 49, was found dead Sunday morning in an upstairs hotel on Ohio Street. H. M. (Doc) Newman, justice of the peace, held that the man died of natural causes, Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Tuesday from Owens & Brumley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in a Wichita Falls Cemetery. The body was discovered by John Swofford, who shared a room with Pyles at Star Rooms, 719-A Ohio. Swofford called the police and told them he awoke around 5:30 a. m. and found Pyles dead. Survivors include a daughter, Rose Lee Bruton, Wichita Falls; four sons, Frank, J. P., Roy Lee an Troy Lee, all of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Dennis, Ryan, Okla., and Mrs. Gladys Davenport, Nocona; one brother, Samuel P. Pyles and five grandchildren.
