Paul Tissaw, 77, founder of Williams Mountain Men

   COTTONWOOD -- Paul Tissaw, 77, a cattle rancher for nearly 50 years and a former chief of police of Williams, died Friday at the Veterans Administration Hospital near Prescott.

    A native of Williamson Valley, Mr. Tissaw owned and operated the Garden Prairie Cattle ranch near Williams.  When he retired from the ranch, he became chief of police of Williams and held the post for seven years.

    Mr. Tissaw, a Navy veteran of World War I, was the founder of the Bill Williams Mountain Men, was a 52-year member of the Williams Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner.

Since his retirement he had been living on the old Tissaw ranch in Cottonwood.

Survivors include a son, Jack of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Mrs. Raynell Sutton of Williams; six brothers, Joe of Flagstaff, Andrew of Cornville, Dave of Thousand Palms, Calif., George of Williams, and Victor and Jim of Cottonwood; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Campbell of Chula Vista, Calif., and Mrs. Flora Hancock of Prescott; and several grandchildren.

Services will be a 10 a.m. Tuesday in Westcott Funeral Home here.  Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery.
