Maltby Ramsey

SARCOXIE, Mo -- Maltby Ramsey, 91, Sarcoxie, died at 4:47 a.m. Tuesday in a Sarcoxie nursing home after a long illness.

Mrs. Ramsey was born June 30, 1899 at Liberty, Tenn.  She had lived most of her life in the La Russell-Sarcoxie area.  She was head cook at Fair Acres Nursing Home at Carthage for 15 years.  She also worked as a cook for Royce Manor Nursing Home, Sarcoxie.

She and her husband operated a general store and service station for many years in Sarcoxie.  She was a co-owner and operator of a laundry in Sarcoxie.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of La Russell.

She was a member of the Reeds Extension Club, the Rebekah Lodge and the Royal Neighbors.

She married Leslie Baker in 1916.  He died in 1929.  She married William Ramsey on March 21, 1939 at Joplin.  He died Feb. 4, 1986.

Surviving are two daughters, Vencil Baker, North Kansas City and Norma Hasselbring, Sarcoxie; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Harvey Cemetery, west of La Russell.  The Rev. Brad Mann will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Housh Funeral Home, Sarcoxie.
