Hillard Dudley "Shorty" Stewart Mr. Hillard D. "Shorty" Stewart, age 53, resident of Vaiden, died after a brief illness of cancer Thursday, January 20, 1994 at his residence. He was the son of Dudley Stewart and the late Mrs. Bessie Chesteen Stewart and the husband of Mrs. Christine Vance Stewart. A native of Carroll County, Mr. Stewart was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Christine Stewart of Vaiden; his father, Dudley Stewart of Vaiden; his daughter, Candace Renee Stewart of Charleston; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Lisa Beam, Mrs. Tammy Oliver and Miss Angela Welch, all of Winona; his son, Curtis Lee Stewart of Vaiden; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Bill and Mrs. Era Stone, both of West; and his brother, Charles W. Stewart of Tuscumbia, Alabama. Funeral services were conducted at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, January 22, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. John L. Walker officiating, assisted by the Rev. Leon Holly. Burial followed in the Vaiden Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Oscar Alldread, Kempe Hodges, Charles Ellis, Herschel Stidham, Matthew Thornton and Michael Ellis. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Campbell and Kittery Jones. Oliver Funeral Home of Winona was in charge of arrangements. |
