WATSON, James A.
(circa 1922 - 1995)

Services for James A. Watson, 73, were held April 5 at Love-Cantrell Chapel.  Wayne Lankford, Neil Spence and E. H. Denman officiated.  Burial was in DeKalb Memorial Gardens of Smithville.  Mr. Watson died April 3 at DeKalb General Hospital following a brief illness.  A native of Cannon County, he was the son of the late F.L. and Eula Bond Watson.  He was an internationally known sorghum maker and a member of Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  Surviving are his wife, Lois Blankenship Watson of Smithville; a son, Russell Watson of Smithville, two daughters, Patricia Gantt of Madisonville, Ky., and Jeanne Anderson of Nashville; six brothers, Paul, Morris and Frank Watson Jr., all of McMinnville, Aaron Watson of Hot Springs Ark., David Watson of Waverly and Johnny Watson of Paducah, Ky.; three sisters, Frances Billings of McMinnville, Anna Stinnett of Fairmount, Ind., and Rebekah Lemon of Jackson; five grandchildren, Kelly Watson Evans, Kurt, Kyle and Craig Watson and John Gantt. Pallbearers were Paul and Richard Close, Jimmy Ervin, Andrew Evans, Kurt and Kyle Watson.  Honorary pallbearers were past and present elders of the Smithville Presbyterian Church.  Love Cantrell Funeral Home of Smithville was in charge of arrangements.
