Richard Murray

MURRAY Richard, 65, of Lawton.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the University Church of Christ (28th & Cornell), Lawton, with Weldon Flanagan officiating.  Dr. Dan Hobbs will deliver the eulogy.  Burial will be in the Cache Cemetery under the direction of Huddleston's Funeral Home.  He died Friday at the McMahon Tomlinson Nursing Home from complications of Parkinson's Disease.  He was born September 1, 1932 in Madill, Oklahoma. He graduated from Madill High School, received a B.S. from Southeastern State College, and a Masters and Doctorate (1961) from the Unversity of Oklahoma.  He married Joann Moring December 13, 1958 in Norman, Oklahoma.  He served higher education for many years, including his service as Vice-President at Cameron University for twelve years.  He retired in 1989 after serving the Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education for five years as Director of the E.T. Dunlap Center in Idabel, Oklahoma.  He was a member of the Cache Church of Christ.  He was also a member of the Lions and of Phi Delta Kappa.  He is survived by his wife, Joann Murray, of the home; one son, John Murray, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 2 daughters, Deborah Murray, Manhattan, Ks., and Linda Bugni, Dallas, Tx.  He is also survived by his mother, Lucille (Ayres)Lawton
