Mary Rosalie Ward, age 61, of Newport, died June 28, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center.

She was employed by Five Rivers Electronics in Greeneville.  She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Faye Southerland and brother, J.B. Southerland.

She is survived by her sisters, Betty Jo Sams, of Parrottsville, Shirley Hafey, of Monroe, North Carolina, and Judy Choats, of Taylorsville, South Carolina; brothers, H.C. Southerland, of Del Rio, Arnold Southerland, of White Pine, and John David Southerland, of Parrottsville; and father, Horace C. Southerland, of Parrottsville.  Additional survivors include several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, including a special aunt, Elsie Johnson, of Bybee.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday, June 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Costner-Maloy Funeral Chapel.

The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 30 at Costner-Maloy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wayne Dalton ofÞciating.  Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at Faubion Cemetery for the 11 a.m. interment service.

Costner-Maloy Funeral Home is in charge.
