BURLESON - Joe Oliver Massey, 74, a retired business executive for 40 years with Spinks Industries in Burleson, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 10 am. Saturday at Laurel Land of Burleson Chapel. Graveside services: 3 p.m. Saturday in Mullin Cemetery near Goldthwaite. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Joe Oliver Massey was born Dec. 23, 1925, in Sherwood. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of Mullin High School in 1947, and attended Baylor University in Waco. He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Bookout, in 1993. He was married to his wife, Barbara, for 39 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was loved by all who knew him. He will be truly missed. "Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand there at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die." Survivors: Wife, Barbara Massey; children, Cheri Tunnell, Tommie Gary and Dwight Massey; his daughter-in-law, Desiree Bookout; his grandchildren, Devon Van Deventer, Jennifer Harbour, Kristina Marsh, Tyler Gary, Chase Massey, Cody Massey, Amy Massey, Dustin Bookout, Bianca Bookout; four great-grandchildren; and a large extended family and many friends.
