Gary Burkett Jr.

Gary "Dean" Burkett Jr., 34, Topeka, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at a Topeka hospital.

Mr. Burkett served as a medic in the Army from 1985 to 1993, and he worked for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Topeka.

He was born Nov. 14, 1966, in San Diego, the son of Gary and Linda Shuman Burkett.  He graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1985.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bowman Burkett, at home; a son, Andrew Dean Burkett, Lemar, Mo.; two stepchildren, John and Maureen, Topeka; his parents, Gary and Linda Burkett, Topeka; two brothers, David Burkett and Marvin Burkett, both of Topeka; and three sisters, Debbie Beuerlein and Kim Vausbinder, both of Topeka, and Mary Beth Long, Blue Springs, Mo.

Cremation is planned.  Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Andrew Dean Burkett Education Fund and sent in care of the Educational Credit Union, 2808 S.W. Arrowhead Road, Topeka, 66614.Text
