James A. Clevenger, 72, 3303 N. U.S. 31, Sharpsville, died 6:55 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2001 in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born Jan. 11, 1929, in White Plains, Ky., the son of Herman Clevenger and Mae (Smith) Clvenger. On Aug. 12, 1950, in Evansville, he married Mary Clevenger, who survives. He was a retired coiler from Kokomo Spring Co. A veteran, he served in the Korean War. He enjoyed making wood crafts, watching his grandsons play ball and spending time with his family. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and LeAnn Clevenger, Sharpsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Desira and Ed Counte, Sharpsville; two grandchildren, Mathew Bozella and Josh Shaw; brothers and wives, Howard and Bonnie Clevenger, Madisonville, Ky., and Charles and Pat Clevenger, Middleburg, Fla.; sisters and one spouse, Freda and Jack Knox, Mt. Carmel, Ill., Lucille Shelton, Evansville, Helen Clevenger and Wilma Clevenger, both of Paducah, Ky. One brother preceded him in death. Private services will be at Sunset Memorial Garden Funeral Home for immediate family members. The Rev. Harold Williams will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4-8 p,m, today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Northern Community Schools. |
