Cecil Ernest Billings, 82

Blues Hill community resident and DeKalb County native Cecil Ernest Billings, 82, died April 4 at his residence after an extended illness.

A farmer and member of Bratchers Crossroads Free Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for 50 years, he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

The son of the late Ray Vaughn and Clara Felts Billings, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances Billings; son and daughter-in-law, Levin and Rachel Billings of McMinnville; sister, Alma Billings of Sparta; brothers, R.V. Billings Jr. of Sparta, Melvin Billings of Smithville and Claude Billings of Sterling Heights, Mich.; grandson and spouse, Keith and April Billings of McMinnville; granddaughter, Gena Barry of McMinnville; great-grandson, Austin Barry; special friend, Katia Cancio of McMinnville; three nieces, four nephews and two step-nephews.  He was preceded in death by sisters, Odean Prater and Ellen Hutchins.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at McMinnville Funeral Home with Bobby Wheeler officiating.  Burial will follow at Centertown Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service today at McMinnville Funeral Home.

McMinnville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
