John H. Goodner, Jr.

GOODNER

John Henry Goodner, Jr., 76, born June 19, 1925, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2002.  He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry, Sr.; mother, May; stepmother, Rose; and brother, Roy.  He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Wanita M. (Bruce) Goodner; his sister, Mary Ellen Ham of Los Fresnos, TX; sister-in-law, Oneita Goodner of Stillwater, OK; sons, Steve of Oklahoma City, OK, Mark and his wife Melanie of Stillwater, OK, Michael and his wife Mari and Jeff and his wife Debbie, all of Albuquerque; daughters, Rebecca Sexton of The Dalles, OR, Elizabeth Goodner and Loretta Olson and her husband Joel, all of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.  John served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict; the Oklahoma National Guard; and the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Vietnam era.  John received a Presidential Unit Citation for Combat Action on Saipan and Tinian Islands during WWII.  The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Kathleen Blake and the staff of the V.A. and St. Joseph Hospitals for their compassion and care during this difficult time.  Services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with George Carman officiating.  Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.  Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Wednesday, March 13, 2002, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association-NM Affiliate, PO Box 90790, Albuquerque, 87199-0790.  French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
