ODESSA-- Durwood Cook Hudson, 76, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Dec. 19, 1925, in Abilene. Durwood married Claudine Mae Murray on June 9, 1946, and moved from Fort Worth, where he attended barber school, to McCamey. They moved to Odessa in 1949. Durwood was a barber in McCamey and Odessa for 53 years and retired in 1997. He served in the Navy during World War II and served on the USS Lexington. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, the Galilean Bible class and Young at Heart fellowship. Durwood was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Effie Ladelle Hudson of McCamey; his daughter, Cindy Brown of Odessa; brothers, Joe and Billy Hudson; and sisters, Thelma Owens, Buena Price, Norma Jean Ivy, Maureen DeMerritt, Pauleen Powell and Lela Hickox. He is survived by his wife, Claudine; daughters, Claudia Anderson of Bastrop and Cathy Thomason of Odessa; sister, Tommie Dean of Lufkin; nine grandchildren, Chris Cook of Dallas, Chad Cook of Dallas, Heather Caswell of Odessa, Corrie Thompson of Odessa, Melissa Hunt of Laredo, Jeff Thomason of Florida, Scott Thomason of Odessa, Monica Stewart of Wyoming and Thomas Butler of California; and 11 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Dalton and Jonathan Cook, Dillon and Anita Thompson, Kodie Caswell, Austin, Alex and Aaron Hunt, Jaret Thomason and Kayla Stewart. Durwood was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In lieu of flowers, donations or memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Young at Heart. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Temple Baptist Church, Harvesters Classroom, with the Rev. Kyle Rodgers officiating.
