Charles David Lea, nicknamed "Tarzan" by the late Bear Bryant, passed away December 6, 2002 at the age of 64. Mr. Lea was a member of the International Operating Engineer Union and the Rocky Valley Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Katie Hunt Lea; sons, Scotty (Anita) Lea, Hoover, AL; Charles Anthony "Tony" (Jerry) Lea, Murtreesboro, TN; David Bruce Lea of Lebanon and daughter, Donna (Keith) Sanders, also of Lebanon; Other survivors include his sisters, Lucille (Douglas) Hobbs, Ruth (Robert) Ricketts, Virginia (Kenneth) Hallums, Margie (Billy) .Trice, Sue Barnes and brother, Kenneth (Betty) Lea. He is also survived by grandchildren, Rachael, Shea, Daniel, Brice and Shelby Lea; Nolan and Nicholas Sanders; and Dallas Holland. Mr. Lea is preceded in death by his parents, Pattie Hackney Lea and Austin C. Lea; his sister, Hester Howard and his brothers, Robert and A.C. Lea. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 - 8 p.m. and on Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2002 at Sellars Funeral Home and will be conducted by Brother Danny Sellars and Brother Mike Christian. Interment at Wilson County Memorial Gardens will immediately follow the service. Pallbearers will be Johnny Clark, Glen Gardner, Clifton Tribble, Danny Tidwell, Mike Bennett, and Jimmy Reed. Neal Schrader, Jimmy McDowell, and Billy Denton will be Honorary Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Heart Association in Mr. Lea's name.
