Oran Avery Smith, 55, a lifelong resident of Boerne, died Dec. 26, 2003 in Boerne.

Born Feb. 16, 1948 in Boerne, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father Eugene Smith and a grandson, Johnathon Michael Bond.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Darlene Smith of Boerne; a mother, Eugenia Wood of Boerne; daughters, Polly Pond and husband Brian of Boerne, Amy Hicks and husband Beau of Boerne; a son, Avery Smith and wife Erica, of Marquette, Mich.; grandchildren, Christopher Bryant Bond, Dakota Avery Smith, Sara Elizabeth Bond, Justin Michael Smith and Sierra Darlene Smith; a sister, Ivy Lee D'Spain and husband David of Boerne; and brothers Claude (Smitty) Smith and wife Vera of Waring, Jet Smith and wife Dorothy of Bandera and Walton Smith and wife Donna of Harper.

Services were held at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at Currey Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Avery Smith officiating.  Burial followed at Smith Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post 688.

Arrangements entrusted to Ebensberger Funeral Home of Boerne.
