BIG SPRING Cortez B. Garrett, 96, of Big Spring, a former employee of Sears Roebuck and Co., died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, in Big Spring. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Lynn Money will officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. She was born Baird. She was a member of the Church of Christ. SURVIVORS: Daughter, Joy Glaser of Big Spring, and Lucille Poindexter of Fresno, Calif.; brothers, Jim Mack Burkett of Odonnell and Joe L. Burkett of Angleton; sisters, Wilda Taylor of Portales, N.M., and Katie Allen of Odonnell; 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Cortez B. Garrett
Cortez B. Garrett, 96, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, in Big Spring. She was born May 27, 1908, to John and Arizona Burkett in Baird. She worked for Sears Roebuck and Co. and was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughters, Joy Glaser of Big Spring and Lucille Poindexter of Fresno, Calif.; two brothers, Jim Mack Burkett of Odonnell and Joe L. Burkett of Angleton; two sisters, Wilda Taylor of Portales, N.M.; and Katie Allen of O'Donnell; 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Lynn Money will officiate the service.
