Clifford Eugene Huckaby Curry Coastal Pilot - (Nov/14/2004)
Clifford Eugene Huckaby Clifford Eugene Huckaby, 68, of Brookings, died in Medford, on Nov. 7, 2004, of lung cancer. He was born on Sept. 19, 1936, in Merced, Calif., to Kenneth Harold and Florence Duncan Huckaby. He grew up in the Merced area. He married Patricia Jo Irwin in 1955. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years. He then entered Federal Civil Service and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1992. He married Eunice Hopkins on May 20, 2000, in Portland and they moved to Brookings in March 2002, the day after she retired. Mr. Huckaby will be remembered for his ready smile, genuine concern for others and his love of God, his family said. He enjoyed chess, pinochle, gardening, history and travel. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary until he became ill. He was a member of TOPS OR432 and Brookings-Harbor Christian Church. Survivors include his wife of Brookings; daughter Debra Meade of Citrus Heights, Calif.; son Cliff Eugene and wife Bonnie of Roseville, Calif.; daughter Florence and husband Barry Bentley of Sonora, Calif.; son Kim of Roseville, Calif.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother Kenneth and wife Mary of Oakdale, Calif.; brother Edward of Brookings; and sister Elenor and husband Dan Prothro of Winnemucca, Nev. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, his stepfather Allen Sorrells, and his sister Elaine Morlock. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at Brookings-Harbor Christian Church, 777 Fifth St., in Brookings. Cremation is under the direction of Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.
