Jason Thomas Bruce, 29, Arkansas City, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, in Arkansas City.  Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at the Hawks Funeral Home with Pastor Gale Rider officiating.  Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. until noon.  The casket will remain closed at the services.

Jason was born Dec. 18, 1975, in Arkansas City, the son of Donald Leon and Aleta Jane Smith Bruce.  He graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1994 and also attended Cowley County Community College.  He had worked at Orscheln Farm & Home Supply, ADM Milling and A.C. Warehouse, all in Arkansas City.  He had also operated his own semi truck and for the last four years has worked in Wichita for the McDaniel Company as a fire sprinkler installer.  He was a member of the Sprinkler Fitters Union Local No. 669.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda (Jackson) Bruce, of the home in Arkansas City; son, Devon Thomas Bruce, of the home; two daughters, Kaydence Bruce, of the home and Payton Bruce, of Grove, Okla.; his parents, Donald and Aleta Bruce, Arkansas City; one brother, Shannon Bruce and his wife, Tracy, of Arkansas City; one sister, Shawn Gillette and her husband, Brandon, Arkansas City; grandmother, Janette Smith, Arkansas City; and nephews, Lane and Logan Bruce and Cody and Trenton Gillette.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond Smith and Alvin and Marie Woods.

A memorial has been established with the Jason Bruce Memorial Fund to benefit his children.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home or Union State Bank.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Hawks Funeral Home, Arkansas City.
