Funeral services for June Key, 91, of Slaton will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2005, at the Englunds Chapel with John W. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Slaton's Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. June was born Nov. 10, 1913 in Lockney. She passed from this life Wednesday, March 23, after a brief illness. She graduated from Lockney High School, West Texas State Teacher College and obtained a masters from Texas Tech University. She moved to Wilson in 1938. June married Yates M. Key in February of 1940 in Stanton, and he preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1983. She was an English and History teacher in Lockney, Wilson, Slaton and Southland. She retired in 1954. June was a member of the Church of Christ, the Junior Civic and Culture Club, the Slaton Art Club and various bridge clubs. Survivors include her daughter, Ramona and husband Larry King of Lubbock; and three grandsons, Eric, Kyle, and Brendan King of Lubbock. Lubbock Avalanche-Journal (TX) - Friday, March 25, 2005
