Travis Emerson Shinkle, age 19 Travis Emerson Shinkle, age 19, died June 23, 2005. He was born April 4, 1986 to Ted Emerson Shinkle and Debra Lee Shinkle. Travis is died in his sleep in Silver City, New Mexico, where he had been working as a roofer. He was the only and much beloved child of Ted Emerson Shinkle and Debra Lee Shinkle. He attended Hoehne and Trinidad Schools. Although he did not graduate from high school, he was proud that he had gone on to earn his GED. He had many friends in Trinidad and was instrumental in the planning and building of the Trinidad Skate Park. He was an avid and excellent skater and he loved the mountains. He relished going fishing with his "other family", the (Wayne) Abeytas, and hanging with his friends, especially "The Couch Monkey" and Eric Eanes. Travis will be sorely missed by his parents, his Grandmother Norma Shihady and his Uncle Ron Ralph, both of Cottonwood, AZ; his Aunt Sherri McGill of Tucson, AZ; Uncle Ralph Lucas, of Trinidad, CO; his Uncle Joe and Aunt Arlene Chavez of Flagstaff, AZ; , Aunt Barbara Shinkle and his Uncle Bobby Shinkle of Kingman, AZ., and his many cousins. He will also be remembered by his skater friends from all over Trinidad, who held a spontaneous and personal memorial for "Trav" on thursday evening, June 24th, at the Skate Park. A memorial service will be held Saturday July 9, 2005 at 11:00 am at Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home with Pastor David Cook officiating. A video tribute to Travis's life will be shown on Trinidad Times TV (TTTV) local cable channel 71 on Saturday July 9, at 9 am and 2 pm. The family has entrusted Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home with the arrangements.
