TISSAW, THOMAS 84

Thomas Tissaw, 84, of Flagstaff died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005.

He was born April 5, 1921, in Flagstaff.  He was the last surviving child of Joseph and Mary Tissaw.

He served in World War II with the U.S. Coast Guard.  He was aboard the USS Hunter Leggett, where he shuttled soldiers for the ship onto land.

He owned and operated Tissaw's Electric and then Tissaw's Sporting Goods for 45 years until retirement.  He was a member of the Flagstaff Rotary Club, where he served for 31 years, along the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #499.  He enjoyed fishing and boating at Lake Powell.

He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Thalya Hays Tissaw of Flagstaff; son John Tissaw of Glendale; and one grandchild.

He was proceeded in death his parents, sister June Heck and brothers Joe Jr. and Bill Tissaw.

Holy rosary will be today at 7 p.m. at Norvel Owens Mortuary.  Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel. Interment will take place in Sunland Memorial Park, in Sun City.

Arrangements are by Norvel Owens Mortuary.
