Obituary

Joan Leslie Burkett, 38, Topeka, passed away Sun., Nov. 26, 2006.  Joan was born Nov. 20, 1968 in Topeka, the daughter of Beryl and Catherine Lambrecht Taylor.  She graduated from Highland Park High School and had been a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Joan married David Burkett.  She was a certified public manager and certified EMT and instructor.  Joan was operations manager at Johnson County Emergency Communications Center.  Survivors include her husband, David, Topeka; two step-sons, Ryan Rayzor, currently serving with the US Marines in Iraq, and Jordan Burkett; two nieces, Rory Luther, Hattiesburg MS and Rene Taylor, Gulf Port MS; and two great-nieces, Haley and Victoria Tory Luther.  She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Eddie Ray, Beryl Buzz and Sharon Taylor.  Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sun. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd, Topeka KS 66614 where a parish rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Church.  Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Midland Hospice Care, sent in care of the funeral home.  Online condolences may be sent to www.kevinbrennanfamily.com.
