of Seattle

Floyd Everett "Mac" MacSpadden Jr. of Kent died Oct. 13, 2006, in Seattle.  He was 85.

Born June 30, 1921, in Great Falls, Mont., he retired from the Air Force and earned a degree in mechanical engineering.  He lived in Kent for 40 years, and married Chris Ann Omey in September 1991.

Mr. MacSpadden worked at Conoco for 25 years, designing the first hydrant system for fueling commercial aircraft.  He retired in 1991 as a mechanical engineer at The Boeing Co.

He had been director of Air Search and Rescue in Washington, having been involved in Air Search and Rescue since the 1970s as a mission pilot and mission manager.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjoire (Miller) MacSpadden in 1985; and a son, Douglas.  Along with his current wife, he is survived by his son, Donald MacSpadden; daughter, Judy Quine; sister, Beverly Dana; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Kent.  Burial will be at Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent.

Arrangements are by Hill Funeral Home in Puyallup.
