George Ira Perryman
George I. Perryman George Ira Perryman, 84, of Forest, died Thursday, April 20, 2006. He was born Aug. 22, 1921, in Montgomery, Ala.. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. In 1969, he entered the Federal Civil Service and worked for the General Services Administration in Kansas City, Mo., Washington, D.C., and Atlanta, Ga. He retired in 1986 from his position of Assistant Commissioner for Public Buildings, GSA in Atlanta. He was past president of the Springfield, Mo., Rotary Club, a member of the Lynchburg Rotary Club, a 32d Mason, a member of the Forest Masonic Lodge No. 0245, and of the Kazim Shrine Temple. He is survived by his wife, Laura Kiker Perryman, his three daughters, Lisa Whitworth and Laury Leese and husband, Mark, of Springfield, Mo., and Tracy Christianson and husband, Dean, of Belleville, Ill.; eight grandchildren; his sister, Elizabeth P. Sellers of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and his brother, Robert T. Perryman and wife, Betty Ann, of Destin, Fla. A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006, with Fr. R Christopher Heying officiating. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 1695 Perrowville Road, Forest, VA 24551.
