Virginia Rafferty

Virginia “Gin” Campbell Rafferty, 82, Topeka, passed away Wed., Nov. 29, 2006 at Midland Hospice House.  Gin was born Feb. 29, 1924 in Burlingame, the daughter of John and Wilma Gabler Morrison.  She graduated from Burlingame High School in 1942.  On Feb. 3, 1954, Gin and Calvin Rafferty were married.  She was a secretary for the federal government at the Supply Depot in Topeka and for USD 501.  Gin was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous since June 18, 1975.  Survivors include her husband, Calvin Rafferty, Topeka; and a brother, Robert Morrison, The Woodlands, TX.  She was preceded in death by two sons, Patrick Morrison Rafferty on Aug. 3, 1979 and Mark Anthony Rafferty on Feb. 21, 2000, and her brother, John Warren Morrison on Nov. 5, 1994.  Gin will lie in state and visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Fri. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd, Topeka KS 66614, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m.  Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sat. at the funeral home.  Inurnment will follow at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Memorial contributions are suggested to The Capper Foundation Easter Seals and to the Sertoma Club to be used to purchase hearing aides, sent in care of the funeral home.
