Omer Tarrence "Buck" Stinnett Chronicle-Tribune (Marion, IN) - September 12, 2006
Omer Tarrence "Buck" Stinnett Jr., 79, died Sunday at St. Vincent's Mercy Hospital in Elwood. Omer was born in Rector Arkansas on Aug. 22, 1927, to the late Omer T. and Sally (Litchford) Stinnett Sr. He Served in the Navy from September 1945 to September 1949 as a Sonorman receiving the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal during World War II. He Married Anna (Watson) Stinnett on July 9, 1965 in Parker, Indiana. She Survives. Omer retired from General Motors (CPC) in 1993 as a Machine Repairman. He was a member of Fairmount Masonic Lodge, Fairmount Order of Eastern Star, and CPC Sympathy Club. He enjoyed Woodworking, hunting, fishing, storytelling and western movies. He loved his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Anna he is survived by, Marilyn (John) DeRosia, Dexter, Mo., Elaine Williams, Fairmount, Wanda Maynard, Fairmount, Eula (Paul) Jeffries, Fairmount; sons, Eddie (Brenda) Stinnett, Morehouse, Mo., Vernon (Veda) Smithley, Fairmount; sisters, Bonnie (Gene) Acord, Fairmount, Freda Munday, Marion, Betty Wright, Lubbock, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; thirty -four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Aubrey Stinnett, sister, Dorothy Acord, half brother Billy Stinnett, 1 grandson, 1 granddaughter and 2 great grandsons. Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, Ind. with the Rev. Johnny Watson officiating. Interment will be at Grant Memorial Cemetery in Marion with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Armes-Hunt Funeral Home.
