MERKEL -- Mack Bigbee, 80, died Thursday, January 18, 2007 in a local hospital.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel with Larry Gill officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.

Mack was born September 23, 1926 in Merkel to Rudolph D. and Hassie Mae Jackson Bigbee.  Mack was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.  He worked as an electrician for Taylor Electric Co-Op 32 ½ years.  After retirement, he worked for Waymon Hicks drilling water wells.  He was a stock farmer, community gardener, fisherman and hunter.  He enjoyed going to the Bigbee reunions.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Russell and husband Charles of Abilene; two sons, Ron Bigbee and wife Elaine of New Braunfels, Joe Bigbee and wife Margo of Argyle; two step-daughters, Lee Ann Butman and Kaye Lynn Butman; a step-son, Jerry Butman; a daughter-in-law, Patsy Bigbee of Merkel; 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Bigbee; a grandson, Jace Card; and 3 sisters, Mary Glen Castleberry, Maxine Vera Ellis and Annette Shaw.
