Fred E. Milbradt Funeral services for Fred E. Milbradt of McMinnville will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the chapel at Macy & Son Funeral Directors. The Rev. Bernie Turner will officiate. Visitation is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 13-14, in the chapel. Interment will be conducted at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in McMinnville. Mr. Milbradt died at the Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007. He was 79. Born in McMinnville on Sept. 29, 1928, he was the son of Fred and Maggie (Gabler) Milbradt. He grew up in Burlingame, Kan. He served in the Army Air Corps military police with the occupation forces in Germany after World War II. After his discharge, he lived by turns in Kansas, Wyoming and Southern California. He joined the National Guard in Los Angeles and remained active until his retirement in 1975. He moved to Sheridan in 1960. In addition to ranching, he worked as a machinist for Field Emission Corp. in McMinnville. He joined the McMinnville Police Department in 1967 and stayed on through his retirement in 1989. He married Shirley Ann Fisher on July 11, 1976, in McMinnville. He helped run a 4-H motocross program for several years. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, birdwatching, gardening, boating, playing cribbage and riding motorcycles. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, the family said.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Milbradt is survived by two
sons, Richard Nistler of Newberg and Michael Milbradt of Harrisburg; two
daughters, Robin Smithburg of McMinnville and Cynthia Milbradt of
Portland; two sisters, Maxine Klarberg of McMinnville and Julia Johnstone
of Sun City, Calif.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by a son, Dale, in 1968, and a brother, Donald. To
