William Huey Pentecost
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Crestwood Funeral Chapel for William Huey Pentecost, 81, of Glencoe, who died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007. Dr. Robert Tant will officiate. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery, Calhoun County. Crestwood Funeral Home will direct. Mr. Pentecost was originally from Calhoun County, but had been a resident of Etowah County for over 60 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and World War II. He had retired from Seimens-Allis. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Melvin and Bird Pentecost, and brother-in-law, Edwin Haver. He is survived by his wife, Ilene Pearman Pentecost; daughter, Jana Downs (Mac); son, Mark Pentecost (Katherine); and daughter, Lori Chandler (Greg); grandchildren, Kendall Bunton (Sloan), Will Downs, Lee Pentecost, Erin Pentecost, Julia Ann Pentecost, Clay Chandler, Jordan Chandler; great-grandchildren, Taegan and Blaise Bunton; sister, Johnnie Haver; nephews, James Haver (Trudel) and Bill Haver (Sue); niece, Diane McCorquodale (Mac). Pallbearers will be Mark Pentecost, Lee Pentecost, Greg Chandler, Will Downs, Clay Chandler and Jordan Chandler. Honorary pallbearers will be Edwin Pentecost, Jim Green, Jimmy Pruit, Clarence Harkins, Jimmy Brown, Hayden Shuffield, James Haver, Bill Haver and Joe Carver. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from noon until the hour of service. The family will accept flowers or donations may be given to the Glencoe Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
