Shinglehouse, PA---Thomas A. Georgia, 61, of Shinglehouse, PA, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in his home after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Born June 1, 1947 in Buffalo, NY, he was a son of Vernon and Elizabeth Fisher Georgia.  On March 11, 1971 in Buffalo, NY, he married Deborah A. Burkett, who died on May 2, 2007.

Mr. Georgia was a graduate of South Park High School in Buffalo, class of 1966 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War.  He was employed as a custodian at the Oswayo Valley School District in Shinglehouse, PA and also was employed by the IU9 program as student aide, retiring in June of this year.

He was a member of the Shinglehouse American Legion Post #530.  He was an accomplished woodworker and stain glass maker.  He was known throughout the area for his artistic talents.

Surviving are a son, David P. (Trisha) Georgia of Olean, NY; a granddaughter, Lily A. Georgia of Olean, NY; a brother, Richard (Loraine) Georgia of Boulder City, Nevada; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Georgia was predeceased by his parents and his wife.

At Mr. Georgia’s request there will be no public visitation or funeral services.  Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse, PA.

Flowers are gratefully declined.  Memorials may be made to the SPCA, Route 16, Olean, NY 14760.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
