Full Obituary: " In Memoriam of Delbert Grant (Coach) Swaner Facts Born: March 19, 1947 Place of Birth: Sayre, Oklahoma Death: December 26, 2008 Place of Death: Altus, Oklahoma Delbert Grant (Coach) Swaner March 19, 1947 - December 26, 2008 Age 61, Snyder - Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Becker Funeral Home Chapel, Snyder with John Albright officiating. Mr. Swaner died Friday in an Altus hospital. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Snyder under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Snyder. He was born March 19, 1947 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Walter Earl and Opal Iva (Young) Swaner. He served in the US Army during Vietnam from 1966 until 1968, and earned the following awards. The National Defense Service Medal, Marksman Badge (M-14), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal and two Overseas Service Bars. He married Glenna Nichols in Sweetwater, Oklahoma on August 31, 1968. He coached high school football and basketball in Erick, Alex, Temple and Snyder during the 70s and 80s. He had been working for Treasure Lake Job Corp as a G.E.D. Instructor for the last twenty plus years. He was a member of the Sayre Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of the home, his two sons, Travis Swaner and his wife Micca of Edmond, OK, Warren Swaner and his wife Rebecca of Sanderson, FL, three sisters, Phylena Parker and her husband Harvey of Elk City, OK, Janie McBane and husband Herschal of Sayre, OK, and Kay McManus of Erick, OK. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Jody Swaner of Sayre, OK and five grandchildren, Myles, Logan, Taylor, Kayla and Christian. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a granddaughter.
