Mary Louise Young

Mary Louise Young, 82, of Amarillo died Friday, March 14, 2008.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Claude Cemetery in Claude with John Watson, chaplain of Hospice of the Southwest.  Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.

Mrs. Young was born Jan. 1, 1926, in Wheeler, where she was raised.  She moved to Amarillo from Pampa in 1949.  She was a homemaker.

She married Ira Young in 1942 in Wheeler.  He preceded her in death in 2000.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Young, in 1990; a brother, Gary Gillenwater, in 2007; and a great-granddaughter, Melissa Young.

Survivors include three daughters, Beverly Carroll and Daphne Fox, both of Amarillo, and Ethel Kotara of Lubbock; a son, Glenn Young of Amarillo; two sisters, Lois Calloway and Laveta Caskey, both of Pampa; a brother, Johnny Gillenwater of Childress; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be to Amarillo SPCA, P.O. Box 1014, Amarillo, TX 79105.
