Bettie Louise McClung Butler 

Services for Bettie Louise (McClung) Butler will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, July 4, 2009 at North Elliot Church of God in Pryor.  Pastor Robert Killman will share words of comfort.  Bettie will be laid to rest following the service at Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove under the direction of Rice Funeral Service.  Friends may visit at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, July 3, with the family receiving visitors from 6-8 p.m.  Bettie passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009.  She was 72.  Born in Locust Grove on June 20, 1937 to Thomas "Elmer" and Myrtle Esther (Cloverdell) McClung, Bettie was reared and educated in her birth community.  She attended Hogan School and graduated from Locust Grove High School.  Bettie and Albert Lee Butler met through a mutual friend and were married in 1953.  They made their home in Chouteau for two years before moving to Pennsylvania.  They returned to Oklahoma in 1965 living in Tulsa for a time before settling in Claremore.  In addition to nurturing her four children, Bettie was employed as an export coordinator for Petralite/Baker Hughes.  After 25 years of dedicated service, Bettie retired in 2001.  She also worked for Allison Loans for a time and as an Avon representative for many years.  On Dec. 26, 1979, Bettie and Marshall Butler married.  Retirement allowed Bettie to take advantage of the travel that she so loved.  Visits to Vegas, the Cayman Islands, any ocean spot, or just shopping trips were equally enjoyed.  While at home, Bettie's time was filled with projects, sewing, arts and crafts, and working in her flower garden with help from Marshall.  A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Bettie is survived by her husband,  Marshall, of their home in Claremore; her children Jerry Butler and wife, Laurie, of Little Rock, Arkansas, Valerie Bradshaw and husband, Randy, of Plano, Texas, Karen Butler and husband, Jimmie Bingham, of Claremore, Danny Butler and wife, Gabby, also of Claremore; grandchildren Charlotte Richardson and husband, Jack, of St. George, S.C., Sam Hixson of Claremore, Blair Butler of N. Little Rock, Audie, Victoria and James Bradshaw, all of Plano, Deandra and Melanie Butler of Claremore; and brothers Allan McClung of Adair, Okla., and Billy McClung of Pritchard, Ala.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Edward McClung.  Memorial contributions may be made in Bettie's honor to the American Cancer Association 4110 S. 100th East Ave., Ste. 101, Tulsa, OK 74146.
