HARRISBURG, ILL. -

Ethel M. Moore died on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at Harrisburg Medical Center at the age of 95.

She was born in Harrisburg on Aug. 7, 1914, the youngest of seven children born to Charles E. and Lina Martin.  Her six siblings preceded her in death.

Ethel graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1932.  She was married to Rollie Moore for 74 years until his death in 2006.

Ethel was a homemaker for most of her life.  She was very proud of raising their four children and she was equally proud of the loving end-of-life care that she gave to her mother, her sister Mattie and her brother Satch, all of whom lived in the Moore family home.

Ethel was one of the original employees in the dietary department of the Bowen Center.  Following her retirement she continued to enjoy monthly lunch gatherings with co-workers.

Ethel was grateful for and thoroughly enjoyed the last four years of her life at the Brookstone Estates, and her family is grateful for the care that she and Rollie received there.

Ethel is survived by a son, Chuck and wife Margaret of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Kathy Farmer and husband Gef of Carrollton, Texas; and son, Tom and wife Terry of Westville, N.J.

Her son David and grandson Darryl preceded her in death.  A son Rollie Jr. was stillborn.

Six grandsons survive, Alan and Brad Moore, Stephen and David Moore, and Gef and Jake Farmer and three great-grandchildren.  Ethel is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Nell Perry of Eldorado and Anna Lee Rea of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg.  Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery.  Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at Gaskins-Jones Funeral Home, Harrisburg.
