Charles W. Yeakey Sr., 66, La Porte, died Wednesday (Nov. 11, 2009) at Golden Living Center, La Porte.

No services will be held.

Charles was born May 22, 1943, in Moberly, Mo., to Francis and Aline (Bundesman) Yeakey, both of whom preceded him in death.

In the '60s, he married the love of his life, Judy Helen (Granacki) Yeakey, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children, Scott (Tricia) Yeakey, Charles "Dewey" Yeakey Jr., Joey Yeakey and Sherrie (Jimmy) Yeakey, all of Michigan City, and Tina Yeakey, La Porte; grandchildren, Jacob, Jessica, Misti, Judy and Ashton; brothers and sisters, Donald Lee (Karen) Yeakey, Michigan City, Barbara Jean Yeakey, Portage, Mary Elizabeth (Owen) Miller, Truman, Ark., Patricia Ann (Robert) Horton of Truman, Ark., Ernest Carl (Marie) Yeakey, Santa Maria, Calif., Linda Marie Coleman and Frankie Eugene Yeakey, both of Truman.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Louise Yeakey.

Mr. Yeakey had been an assembler/painter with Excelsior Manufacturing Co.  He was known for his great sense of humor.  He dearly missed the passing of his beloved wife Judy.  He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He will be fondly missed by his family and friends.
