 Phillip Wayne Adcock II, 39, Jonesborough, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven, Saturday, February 27, 2010 from his residence after a long battle with cancer.

Phil was a native of Knoxville and had lived in the Sulphur Springs community of Washington County most of his life.  He was a son of Phillip Wayne and Jo Ann Stafford Adcock, Jonesborough, TN.  Phil was preceded in death by his grandparents, Annie Ruth and Joseph Stafford and Willie and Vernal Adcock.

He was formerly employed by Citigroup of Gray for twenty years and was an Associate Pastor at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, where he led the Praise and Worship Service each Sunday morning at 9:00 am.

Phillip was a graduate of Daniel Boone High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from The Baptist Bible College of Florida.

Phil also enjoyed working with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and speaking to young people when given the opportunity.   Phil also served as a volunteer with the Holston Baptist Association in planning for each annual student at Ridgecrest.

Phil was very active in ministry and enjoyed faithfully serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Phil enjoyed playing golf with close friends and was very passionate about music, including singing, playing guitar, bass guitar and drums.

In addition to his parents, he leaves his wife, LuAnn Hilton Adcock; two brothers, Terry Douglas Adcock and his wife, Tammy, Jonesborough and Chris Jeremy Adcock, Johnson City; nieces, Shawna and Olivia Austin, Alexis and Anna Whitson, and Cheyenne Norris; nephews, Jake and Josh Adcock, Dalton Norris, and Trevor Whitson.

In addition to these, Phil also leaves his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Lu Norris, Elizabethton; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ron & Susan Austin, Jonesborough, Thomas & Kim Norris, Elizabethton and John & Kay Whitson, Johnson City; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family of Phillip W. Adcock will receive friends Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 4:00 pm until an 8:00 pm Celebration of Life Service at Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services.  Reverend Jon Reed will officiate.  Music will be provided by members of the Praise Team.  Phil will lie in state at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, Wednesday, March 03, 2010 from 10:00 am until 10:45 am followed by a committal service at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.  Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church.  Active pallbearers will be Terry Adcock, Chris Adcock, Rusty Sells, Phil Clark, Larry Keith McCrosky and Charlie Davenport.  Honorary pallbearers will bearers will be Rick Davenport, David Baskett, Kevin Lowe, Cody Baskett and Donnie Shealy.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, 1567 Gray Station Sulphur Springs Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659.
