MOUNT CARMEL, ILL -- Freda J. Knox, 84, of Mt. Carmel, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Meadowood Nursing Home, Grayville, IL. 

She was born on September 1, 1926 in Earlington, Kentucky, the daughter of Herman and Mae (Smith) Clevenger.  She married John Jack Thomas Knox, April 19, 1947 in Hopkins County, Kentucky, and he precedes her in death on April 7, 2006.  Freda was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Mt. Carmel.  She worked as a cook for Mount Carmel High School.  She enjoyed spending time reading and crocheting.  She is survived by her three sons, Larry (Sandi) Knox of Henderson, Nevada, Terry (Patti) Knox of Mt. Carmel, and Keith (Deidre) Knox, of Utah; two grandsons, Kevin, of Arizona and Jonathan (Heather) Knox of Olney, IL; two granddaughters, Kristy (Derik) Scott and Michelle (Greg) Hedge; eight great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; three brothers, Howard Clevenger, Charles Clevenger, and Danny Clevenger; four sisters, Lucille, Helen, Wilma, and Gladys; and several nieces and nephews.  Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; a sister and a brother. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Short Funeral Home, Mt. Carmel with burial Highland Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Carmel.  No public visitation.
