Billy Bob McCool Funeral services for Billy Bob McCool, age 75, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at League Street Church of Christ with Bro. Gene Gleaser officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park with Harris Ardis, Don Deaton, Gene Watson, Dan Amundson, Bill Hager and Lawrence Bramblett serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Johnny Portwood. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at West Oaks Funeral Home, Sulphur Springs. Mr. McCool passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at his residence. Mr. McCool was born on Oct. 28, 1934, in Sulphur Springs, the son of Robert C. and Ellie (Billingsley) McCool. He married Tyler native Vivian Kay Beaty on Feb. 11, 1955, in Tyler. She survives. Mr. McCool was a self-employed real estate developer and builder for more than 36 years. He was a member of League Street Church of Christ and served on the Sulphur Springs City Council from 1986 to 1988 and served as mayor in 1988. He was a 1953 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School and attended Tyler Junior College. Mr. McCool is survived by three children, Mike McCool of Kitty Hawk, N.C., Kim McCool of Brashear, and Karen Moreland and husband Terry of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Jonathan Moreland and fiancée Marisha Peugh, Jennifer Virgel and husband Tim, Matison McCool and Jake Moreland; great-granddaughter, Camryn Lea Virgel; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Imogene McCool and Rose McGallion.
