Full Obituary: Obituary & Life History Denise Jacoline Northcutt Denise Jacoline (Mason) Northcutt, age 88 of Kansas City, KS passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Bickford of Overland Park, KS. She was born February 9, 1922 in Lincoln, KS the daughter of William Garlin and Eva Mae (Capper) Mason. She grew up in Lincoln, KS and moved to Kansas City at the age of 13 where she graduated from Rosedale High School. She was a member of The Gold Star Wives of America, volunteered at the Red Cross and the VA Hospital in KCMO for 22 years. She worked at JC Pennys for many years and then KU Medical Center where she retired. She was a member of Rosedale Congregational Church, life member of PTA and was much involved in Boy Scouts and Camp Fire Girls. She made it through many hills and valleys in her life with the support of her best friends Delores Duffin, Betty Murphy, Betty Culberson and George Ann Orcutt. She is survived by her children, Terry Northcutt, Bonnie Hickey, Gayl Northcutt, John Northcutt, Julie Gunther and Peggy Donavan; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Bernard L. Northcutt who was lost in World War II; a son, Bernie L. Northcutt; and husband Alvin A. Northcutt; by all her siblings; Claude Mason, Reva Thayer, Mildred Trapp, Vona Gwinner and Pauline Withlock. Denise was a committed mother to her seven children and grandchildren. A dedicated community member where she lived in the same home for 67 year and purchased that home when she was 21 years old. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2010 at Maple Hill Funeral Home, 3300 Shawnee Drive, KCK 66106. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in KCK. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Memoral contributions to; Lupus Foundation of America or the National Kidney Foundation and sent in care of Maple Hill Funeral Home in KCK. Denise has been living happily at Bickford of Overland Park since May and will be terribly missed by all. Travel peacefully Mom, Love Always, Julie.
