John Duddie Rushing

Enville, OK —  John Duddie Rushing, 75, of Enville, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2010, at the Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma.  He was born on March 19, 1935, in Powell, Oklahoma, to the late William Henry Rushing and Gladys Marie McAlister Rushing.

John was raised in the Powell and Madill area.  In seventh grade he moved to Marietta where he graduated from the Marietta High School in 1954.  He later attended the Murray State College for two years before serving as Oklahoma State Representative from 1964 to 1968.

He married Peggy Joyce Richardson Honea on September 3, 1968, in Madill.  They moved to Arlington, Texas, where John was Vice President of Good Times Inc., and half owner of Tra-Tech Van Conversion in Fort Worth, Texas.  In 1981 they moved to the family farm in Love County where he lived the rest of his life.

John was a member of the Enville Community Church in Enville, Oklahoma.  He enjoyed being with his grandchildren, politics, hunting, working with cattle, playing dominoes and talking about the Bible.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Rushing, Enville, Oklahoma; children, Stacy Rushing and wife, Missy, Enville, Oklahoma, John Mark Rushing, Madill, Oklahoma, William Alan Rushing, Marietta, Oklahoma, Patsy Lu Rushing, Fort Worth, Texas, Laura Sue Rushing, Kingston, Oklahoma, and Deanna Lyn Rushing, Tulsa, Oklahoma; stepsons, Jimmy Linn Honea and wife, Laura, Wilson, Oklahoma, Bobby Ray Honea, Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Mark Honea and wife, Kathi, Madill, Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Jo Ann Cutting and Rita Brito.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Kidney Foundation.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Okla.  Family hour will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Services will be Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Enville Community Church, Enville, Oklahoma.  Brother Don Keizor will officiate the services. Music arranged by Donna Martin, Ricky Willis, Claudia Vaughn, Chad Robinson, Savannah and Cable Honea.

Casket bearers are Justin Rushing, Montana Rushing, Chase Honea, Cable Honea, Joshua Honea and Teeleih Bond.

Honorary bearers are Ken Keith, Carroll Montgomery, Paul Riley, Dr. Khan and the Dialysis Crew.

Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma.
