Bettye Jane Wells
1922 – 2010

Bettye J. Wells, 87 years old, of J-6 Benson area, passed away on May 26, 2010.  She was born Dec. 11, 1922 in Austin, Texas.  Her parents were Lamar Irwin Hazel and Pearl N. Hyer Hazel.

Bettye worked as an Executive Secretary for a mortgage company.  Bettye made Arizona her primary residence in the 1940s.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1999.  They were true sweethearts.  They were members of the Sahuaro Brittany Club.  She served for a long time as treasurer.  They loved their dogs.  Their dogs were sought after, due to breeding and training.

Survivors include sister, Marjorie Smith; niece, Cynthia Hazel; niece, Deborah Esparza; nephew, Michael Pugh; grandniece, Lisa Baughn, all from Texas; and many local friends.

Memorial Services were held Monday, May 31, at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Benson, with Rev. Larry Pondoff conducting.  Final disposition will be private.
