Robert Earl "Bob" Blankenship

 

Birth:      1929,  Watertown, Wilson County,Tennessee

Death:    Dec. 30, 2011 Tennessee

 

Robert E. "Bob" Blankenship, age 82, of Murfreesboro, died Friday, December 30, 2011.  He was a native of Watertown and the son of the late William C. Blankenship and Winnie Huggins Payne.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Sunday at Third Baptist Church, Murfreesboro.  Rev. Mike Lee will officiate. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly Kidwell Blankenship; sons, Steve (Robin) Blankenship of Calhoun, TN and John (Angela) Blankenship of Murfreesboro; daughters, Jana (Ronnie) Summar of Murfreesboro, Kathy Black and her friend Shannon Harbison of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Steven, Greg, David, John David and Wyn Blankenship, Barrett and Brennan Summar, Taylor Black and his wife Sara.

Mr. Blankenship was a Godly man.  He was a loving husband, father and pawpaw; teacher, coach, deacon, Sunday school teacher and friend to many; Daily Bible reader and all and all a really great man.

Mr. Blankenship was a member of Third Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran serving in Korea.  He was a 1948 graduate of Watertown High School, received his BS and Masters Degree from MTSU, taught at Hobgood Elementary School and retired from Scott Foresman Publishing Company.

Memorials may be made to Third Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Blankenship.

Grandsons will serve as Active Pallbearers.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Boyd Dagley, Don Wilson, Al Canterbury, Fred Fisher, Marty McGreevy, Mac Elrod and the Pat Vaden Sunday school class.
