Mary J. Crowe Crawford Ziegenhein Funeral Home
Maryjeanne was born November 7, 1946, in Poplar Bluff, MO, to William and Mary (Metz) Crowe. She married James K. Crawford, Jr. in Louisiana on August 27, 1977. Besides her beloved husband, who resides in St. Louis, Mo., Ms. Crawford is survived by one son, Kenneth, his wife Deborah and one grandson, Connor James, all of Pingree Grove, IL, her sister and brother-in-law, John and Betty O'Brien of St. Louis, and her brother-in-law, Dr. LeRoy Essig, of Fredericksburg, VA. She also leaves many beloved aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Ann Crowe Essig, of Fredericksburg, VA. Maryjeanne graduated from Poplar Bluff, MO High School and received her Bachelor's in Education, majoring in Political Science, and a Masters in Library Science from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She was an avid reader. Her life's work as a librarian began in Louisiana where she was Head of Library Services K-12 for the Louisiana School District. She served as Director of Technical Services at Grand Prairie Public Library for 8 years. Later, she became Administrative Librarian at Glenwood-Lynwood Public Library in Glenwood, IL, a southern suburb of Chicago, for 12 years. Her other love was music. Maryjeanne's beautiful soprano voice was heard in a capella choirs as well as her church choirs in Chicago and St. Louis. She also served as an accompanist on both piano and organ at many different times. Always her own person, Maryjeanne will be greatly missed. Memorials may be made to Chancel Choir at Concord Trinity United Methodist Church, St. Louis or Senior Choir, Faith United Protestant Church, Park Forest, IL.
