Leslie M. Graham Lewiston Morning Tribune, November 8, 2011
Leslie L. (Mike) Graham, 77, of Grangeville, passed away Oct. 29, 2011, with his wife, son and daughter at his side in Salt Lake City. Mike was born in Ahwahnee, Calif., May 24, 1934. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a equipment operator from 1959 to 1962 and was honorably discharged Oct. 21, 1962. Mike worked in the woods in California and had his own truck for many years. He married Judy E. Brown from Yankee Hill, Calif., July 2, 1966, in Paradise, Calif. They had two children. In 1975 Mike and Judy moved to Anchorage, Alaska. He worked driving his trucks for Weaver Bros. Trucking until his retirement in 1998. Mike was an avid fisherman and hunter, making many trips up and down the rivers and lakes in Alaska, and finally building a cabin on the Yentna River in Alaska. He drove many miles on the roads of Alaska hauling all kinds of freight, heavy haul loads, asphalt and equipment on the Dalton Highway to Prudhoe Bay. After more than 30 years in Alaska, Mike and Judy wanted to just get some horses and mules and just do some fun stuff, so they moved to Grangeville and set up housekeeping in a lovely new home in a hay field where the deer, wild turkeys and quail wake them every day. After going through a multitude of horses (and wrecks), they finally settled on a couple of nice, gentle mules and two horses that come to them when they are called. They have enjoyed many rides and camping trips with their animals and friends. Mike is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy son, Todd and Dana Graham of Anchorage daughter, Kelly and Joe Straker of Rapid City, S.D. and grandsons, Gordon and Toby Straker, and Garrett Graham a sister, Doris Jones of California and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. There will be a gathering of friends and family at 1 p.m. Nov. 19, for a potluck lunch at the Grangeville Senior Center - salads requested. A service will be conducted in Anchorage, Alaska, in the spring of 2012. His ashes will be at his cabin on the Yentna River. Lewiston Morning Tribune (ID) — Tuesday, November 8, 2011
