Katha Janie Guinn

CASPER, Wyo. – Katha “Janie” Guinn, 82, of Casper, Wyo., and formerly of Leakey, Texas, passed away February 22, 2011.  She was born September 3, 1928, in Dillard, Okla., the daughter of Marvin and Opal Burkett Pierce.  She was united in marriage to Troyce E. Guinn in 1951 and he preceded her in death March 24, 1987.

She was a devoted care giver as a registered nurse at the Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, and the Retama Nursing Home in Alice, Texas, for many years.  She loved to hunt and camp, being outdoors and observing wildlife.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, JD Pierce, a sister, Kitty Corbin and a great-grandchild, Nathan Rodas.

Survivors include three sons, Mark Guinn (Holly) of Casper, Wyo., Keith (Gwen) Guinn of Alice, Texas, and Larry Guinn of San Angelo, Texas; six grandchildren, Cody, Cory, Tiffany, Travis, Troyce and Tyra; and two great-grandchildren, with a third one on the way.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2011, at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper, Wyo.  Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Uvalde, Texas, with interment to follow in Rio Frio Cemetery.

It is requested that flowers only be sent to the service in Uvalde, Texas.
