Eddie R. Isaacs Carrollton Leader, November 29, 2011
Eddie Ray Isaacs (1931-2011) LTC (Ret.) of Carrollton, Texas, passed away at his home on November 23, 2011 at the age of 80, surrounded by his wife and children. The son of Edward A. Isaacs and Bertha Jane Barker, he was born in Big Springs, TX on June 22, 1931, growing up in Franklin, TN, later moving to Pampa, TX where he attended high school. He joined the army at the age of 17 and, shortly thereafter, was sent to Japan where he served in General Douglas MacArthur's Honor Guard. In 1950 he was sent overseas for the Korean War, became an MP in the 545th Military Police Company. While home on leave, he married his childhood sweetheart, Betty Joan "Jody" Kiff of Pampa, TX. They moved to Sweetwater, Texas, where Eddie was employed by the Lone Star Cement Company, moving to New York in 1966, and then Florida, from where he eventually retired as V.P. of Administration. They later moved back to Texas where Eddie went to work for the Bright Mortgage Company. He stayed active in the National Guard and retired as Lt. Colonel. As a natural games player, Eddie became an accomplished golfer and enjoyed a life-long relationship with the sport. His bowling achievements were legend -- playing in leagues at both the USA Bowl in Dallas and the Richardson Bowl. He bowled three perfect 300 games at the age of 71, 77 and 80 and was recognized as the oldest bowler in Dallas to bowl a perfect 300 game. Married for 60 years, he is survived by his wife Betty Joan and five daughters, Debra Klimenko (Robert), Susan Steckler (Jimmy), Carolee Ford (Rex), Angela Beeler, and Gaylynn Dwyer (Keith), and ten grandchildren, Carrie and Christopher Klimenko, Steven and Kevin Steckler, Ashley and April Steinberg, Kristin and Kyle Beeler, Nicholas and Devin Dwyer, and his sister-in-law Daline Kiff Stott (David). He was a most caring and generous person -- a family man to the core -- and a wonderful husband, father and mentor. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. At Eddie's request, a celebration of his life will be held by the family.
