Dorothy Geneva Blackard

Dorothy Geneva Yarbrough Blackard, age 75, of Clarksville, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center.  Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday with Rev. James Sanders officiating.  Visitation will be 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday.  Burial will be in the Alec Yarbrough Cemetery.  Sykes Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blackard was born in Montgomery County, TN on March 11, 1936 to the late Harry Eugene and Jennie Ruth Black Yarbrough.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Glen H. Blackard; sister, Patsy Jo Schrimpshire and brother, Frank Yarbrough.

She was retired from Acme Boot Company and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Glen Darrell (Mindy) Blackard; Tammy Schrimpshire Garcia, Buddy Schrimpshire and Gene (Lara) Schrimpshire; sister, Freddie (Bobby) Lyle; and loving nephews and nieces; grandchildren, Dylan, Dusty, Kristi, JC, Brandi; 3 great-grandchildren and grandma to many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Josh Lyle, Eli Ray, Clydel Burney, Stonewall Jackson, Jeff Wright, Donald Neblett, James Mickle and Ronnie Baggett.
