Virginia Box, 73, of Whitney passed away on March 25, 2012.

Services will be held at 11 am, Friday, March 30, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Whitney.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro.  Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Virginia was born on January 26, 1939 in Hillsboro, Texas.  She was the daughter of Glenn and Blanche Morgan.  She grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1957.  Virginia attended Navarro and Hill Colleges, graduating with an Associates Degree.  On October 12, 1957, she married Jimmy Box.  They moved to Whitney in 1962.  Virginia served as Whitney Community Center Director for seven years before working with the Aged and Disabled program of Texas Department of Human Services until her retirement in 1998.  She was an active and much loved member of First Baptist Church in Whitney since 1962 and served her church in many ways.  She participated in the planning of the new sanctuary and the Family Life Center, and was active in the after-school program, Vacation Bible School, kitchen committee and church nursery.  Virginia was a member of the Whitney Garden Club and worked hard to beautify downtown Whitney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lowell Morgan; husband, Jimmy; and two grandchildren, Caroline and Evan Campbell.

Survivors include son, Barry Box and wife Kristen of Whitney; daughter, Gay Campbell and husband Scott of Flower Mound; sister, Glenna Stamps and husband Stanley of Hillsboro; sister-in-law, Barbara Morgan of Hillsboro; sister-in-law, Nell Liberda of Kingwood; close family, Gloria Huddleston and husband Glenn of Peoria; grandchildren, Ian and Emma Campbell; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and beloved friends.
