Julius William Crump, Sr.
January 7, 1927 - October 8, 2013

Services for Mr. J. W. Crump, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2013 at Tioga First Baptist Church with Dr. David Cranford and Reverend Tim Hisaw officiating.  Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery, Pollock, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria. 

The family requests that visitation be observed Friday at Tioga First Baptist Church from 12:00 a.m. until time of service. 

Mr. Crump, 86, of Pollock passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Woods Haven Nursing Home. 

Mr. Crump was born January 7, 1927.  J. W. was an active member of Tioga First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for over 60 years and as chairman.  He was a member of the Curtis T. Hines Masonic Lodge #317 F & AM, Tioga.  Mr. Crump also served as president of Springhill Water Works for over 30 years.

Mr. J. W. served in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II. 

During his working career he managed Kay’s Shoe Store starting in 1958 until 1975 and then opened his own shoe store The Shoe Trunk in which he was active until 2011. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Linnie Pearl Rice Crump; brother, Howard Ray Crump.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 67 years, Tezalee Camp Crump; ; daughter, Sharlott O’Neal and husband, Don, son, Bill Crump and wife, Georgie; sister, Bobbie Ferguson; grandchildren, Scott O’Neal (Claire), Kathie Cranford (David), Holly Mertens (Mark), Amye Mason (Chad), Trey Crump (Amber), Chase Crump (Suzannah), Caitlin Crump; 15 great grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be his grandsons. 

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Tioga Community Care Center, Woods Haven Nursing Home and Compassionate Care Hospice.
