ROBERT LEE "BOB" PATTERSON

PATTERSON, ROBERT "BOB" LEE age 75, of McCalla, AL, passed away on April 24, 2013.  Known to many as "Papaw Patty".  He was a long time member of the Assemblies of God, a generous supporter of missions going on several mission trips to Argentina, South America, Mexico and Honduras, a firefighter for the City of Bessemer for 28 years, a craftsman and carpenter his whole life.  He owned his own business Patterson Contracting for most of his adult life.  He was an entrepreneur starting a diaper business with his brother called P and P Diaper Service and working at Bank Pawn Shop buying, selling and repairing guns and other items, investing in other adventures such as a putt putt golf course, a sub division to name a few.  He was a member of the Gideon Bessemer Camp for years.  He was a Sunday School teacher and served on the board at Bessemer First Assembly of God for many years.  He was considered a true good Samaritan giving to others of his time, talent and money where ever he felt there was a need.  Survivors: his bride of 56 years, Jimmie Lee Patterson; sons, Neil Patterson (Nancy), Tim Patterson (Trenda); six grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sisters, Janice Bowlin (Jackie), Carolyn Ludolf (Bobby); brothers, Jerry Patterson (Gay), Bruce Patterson (Sharon).  Funeral services at Pleasant Grove Assembly, 611 Pleasant Grove Rd, Pleasant Grove, AL 35127 Monday April 29, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. with burial in Forest Grove Memorial Gardens.  Rev. Thomas Blagg and Rev. Lamar Jacks officiating.  Visitation on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the church.  In lieu of flowers please make donations to Pleasant Grove Assembly building fund.
